Who is behind Puerto Rico Informations Website?

My name is François Painchaud, I am an Web enthusiast and consultant by profession, and a serious Latin America aficionado by passion.

Many people have asked me how I combine two completely different areas of focus in my life. This is how it came to happen.

I started off as an information technology professional in the early 1990s, and came into contact with the World Wide Web more seriously. In 1998, I was working as a Linux network manager when the Internet bug really bit me.

Those were exciting times. The Internet revolution was shaking the foundations of traditional means of business, and a new order was emerging. It was too restricting to work for someone else; I took the plunge to resign my job and set up a company I could call my own. We started advising small and medium enterprises on how to benefit from the opportunities thrown up by the Internet.

Soon it became bigger than all that. We built websites, hosted critical data, developed software, ventured into e-commerce, implemented SEO strategies, created personalized applications, provided software solutions from CRMs to integrated management software solutions – you name it and we did it.

We probed the edges of Internet technology and served different sectors and industries. In the 400-plus projects that we have completed successfully, we have catered to services, retail, construction, real estate, special events, transport and aviation, city portals, and so on.

Then, one day I traveled to Latin America. That visit was a sort of revelation for me. I fell in love with the place! Proceeded to sell my company, and prepared for my new and exciting adventure. Now, for well over a year I have been living and traveling to the corners of Latin America doing a lot of research and soaking the experience.
