OBAMA TO VISIT PUERTO RICO
The US President Obama is all set to visit Puerto Rico in the near future. The 4 million Puerto Ricans who live on the island are citizens but cannot vote in U.S. presidential elections. The 4.2 million Puerto Ricans who live in the United States, however, can vote and, almost unnoticed, they have amassed significant political clout in several states that will be key to Obama’s 2012 hopes.
PUERTO RICO RICHLY REWARDED
Puerto Rico has been richly rewarded with increasing tourists due to the recent campaign.First quarter 2011 hotel occupancy rates show a four percent increase over 2010, and Puerto Rico tourism officials anticipate a three-to-four percent rise in total tourism visits this year.
If confirmed, this would represent the first increase in five years.

NEW PUERTO RICO FERRY CROSSINGS
Puerto Rico is adding a new ferry for the first time in nearly two decades to the route that runs from Old San Juan to Catano, site of the island’s famous Bacardi rum factory.
The launch of the air-conditioned boat that can carry 149 passengers comes at the start of the high tourist season for the U.S. Caribbean territory.
