Ponce, Puerto Rico, widely considered by many to be the pearl of the south in the Caribbean, is Puerto Rico's second largest city after San Juan. Similar to San Juan however is the visual imagery that Ponce Puerto Rico promises to its visitors. There are several buildings that still stand proud since the neoclassical era of architecture. The city was once a foothold of the Spanish until the Americans took over in 1898 and since then it has been modernized to include some truly global influences.
